    BMW M10 valve lengths

    Hi All, Can anyone please tell me the length of the BMW 46mm M10 inlet valve.

    cant find any 46mm valves at the moment, but i measure an oversize 48mm valve, that was 104mm from face of head to tip of stem

    Thanks Graham, I'm looking for a larger valve for the Cologne. Not sure whether to use the M10 valve or the M30 valve at this stage.

    i just found a 46mm valve that was same length as the 48. m30 is a different length somewhere i have a book which will tell me

    Thanks, yes the M30 valves are 108mm, the M10 valves are 104mm and I need 106mm. Hmmmm.........
    The M10 valves being cheaper maybe the way to go.

    ford valves from that era tend to have very thick , so the effective difference between the ford and bmw may not be as much as the numbers suggest.

    you could always shorten the rocker posts a bit

    Yes shortening the rocker posts is an option. I'm going to have to check the valve geometry anyway as I'm just about to re-ratio the rockers as well.
