Help me identify these two diffs and rear brakes

I've got a couple of MK2 Sports I'm trying to decide what to do with, restore, sell etc..
They're from South Africa (I'll never buy another car out of South Africa!).

So I would like to identify what diff and brakes are in them.

Car 1 and Car 2 are in the pics.. plus some weird spring thing they've done?

Koln axles both, weird spring stretcher - positively dangerous and the disc conversion looks to have a VW caliper?

Thanks Katana, I've never heard of a Koln axle so off to Google I go.. at least I have a starting point now ... can you tell me any more info about it?..

I'm rebuilding the entire running gear on the car... it was just dangerous.. brake lines almost cut through (I won't be surprised if there's no brake fluid in it!) bolts too short or missing.. etc etc..

General rule is they are pretty poor. If you are upping the power get rid. maybe ok with what you have power wise ??

Not Koln axles these, but SA sourced items. Borg Warner springs to mind.

Spring stretcher is a quick fix to stiffen up the suspension, same as the wedge adjustments in stockcar racing.

In one I'm just going to run a crossflow (thinking of putting Hayabusa throttle bodies and injectors on it, combined with an aftermarket ECU as you can buy a crank trigger from Weber for these fairly cheap.. but doing my homework at the moment).. along with a RX8 gearbox.. I'll probably sell this one when done.. the other one I'm going to go for a duratec with ITBs in it etc.. so this will be 220-240 hp or so.. so yea might need to replace it I think..

One thing I've learnt is SA engineering is not equal to English (or Kiwi in my case) engineering.. it could literally be anything is the problem.. is the borg warner a good unit if it is one?

No...... (apologise for the Koln reference - I knew there was an alternative for SA cars but couldn't remember it ! ! ! ) There are pretty much no upgraded parts - shafts LSD's etc available and I don't believe they were fitted on the hi output cars?
What is odd though considering the markets they were sold too - SA, Aus etc which aren't renowned for smooth tarmac everywhere - they must be fairly robust to survive?
