Ya i'm just gettin used to this forum game. Really enjoy reading other peoples forums and seeing the issues other people came up with. This was the first project i did and i couldn't beleave the amount of hastle that was involved with getting everything finished with the assembly.

The pictures of the car before spraying didn't come out so i'll add them now.

    Re: st170 mk2 escort

It's a ford signal orange. There were two different types we looked at this was the brighter of the two. I suppose i could've changed the coluor completely, people look at the pictures before and say why did you do a full respray? the answer? well by the time all the stripping was done to get the engine ing there wasn't much more stripping to completly gut the car and being a greenhorn at the restoration business i just said "go for it"

    Great engine!

Almost finished my ST170 engine in my mk2 (check out my resto thread) - did you say you've got it up and running? Any photos of the finished article?

Ya i got it up and running alright, just some teething problems to sort like exaust hanging down, brake pads, steering alignment, thermostat, rev counter and oil pressure guage. I was following your thread. Love the colour might use it for my next project whenever that will be The following picture is one i tok before it went to the rolling road. Thats a megasquirt loom, i've since changed the ecu to an omex. I'll keep posting pictures of the build here, i need to get a few taken of the finished product so watch this space.

trig. Inlet and outlet are on the same side. I didn't get it custom build but the person i bought it off said another customer ordered it and never came for it. I'm not sure if it is a custom built one or not but i belief changing the holes from one side to the other isn't that big a deal if ya know somene handy at welding alluminium.
I have the fan on the engine side of the rad as well, saves cutting away at the body or spacing the rad back. I'll get a pic and post it here

A great project and yes - your garage looks fantastic!
What throttle bodies are you using?

I got my radiator from Grp4 Fabrications (I'm also putting ST170 in mine). We discussed having the top and bottom hoses on the same side but it is best to have them on opposing sides so that heat is distributed across the whole rad. I will run a pipe across the bottom.

Thats a good point pity i didn't hear that when i was buying the rad Aw well will have to do now.
Using gsxr750 carbs. Bogg brothers mad the manifold which i love. Also got the bodies sent to them and they removed the secondary butterflys and filled the unnecessay holes. Hats off to you Bogg men top job
The Garage belongs to my father in law, i've practically taken the place over. Not only that but i have him slaving over the car, he's done loads of bits for me including the roof lining which i dredded. I hope he realises that he will have a mission on his hands to get me out of there

Looking great! I love the colour...

Quick question - what did you do with the fan switch connection on the RF water rail? Should there be something on the original loom for this, or is this something you made up direct to the fan?

Also... How much fun is it?? I'm gagging to get mine running...

These are a few pics of my rad setup. You may want to consider the above quote when choosing a rad

Hi fieldstvl. I have the fan controlled by the ecu and i have a manual switch as well. I am going to wire the fan switch that can be seen on the top of the rad as well. The little connector on the RF water manifold is for the temp guage and the one on the RF rail is the temp sender for the ecu. I'm not running a stat at present because the stat is supposed to be after the sender. I discussed this with Dave at RF and he said to drill a tiny hole in the stat and place it in his manifold that way the engine temp will be regulated better and the ecu will get a better reading. However i'm just going to reposition the stat to the end of the rail using a remote stat housing. I'll put some pics of this up when i'm done.
Oh and you asked about how much fun it is? well have a look at these short vids:

Looks like a LOT of fun! Thanks for your reply.

How much power is it putting out? I've got the vernier to go on the exhaust cam which will be going on soon, so hoping for 180/190...

185 brake and 202nm torque or 149lbf/ft. I must take a pic if the graph and post it here. Have you much to do with yours now? I see your forum and it looks like it's well on the way but i suppose the finishing touches can take ages and the way i look at it is your better to have everything complete before you try to get it running because the little things get left and their never finished.

    Re: st170 mk2 escort

That's good power, you must be happy with that. Would love to see the graph.

    Still left to do:

Fit fuel pump/filter and all fuel lines/return + wiring for this.
Wire up ECU to the original car ignition.
    Wire up VVT.
A few other bits of wiring from the original loom (alternator/starter motor etc...)
Finish off cooling system, off to get some hoses and a fan this weekend.
Work out how to power the fan!
    Bleed the brakes.
    Fit the exhaust vernier.

Then after a bit of jiggery pokery with the laptop it should be firing up time, then if all is good off the rolling road...

Looks like you still useing standard cams and no vvt?

My 1800cc silver top is 168bhp/146bft so am hoping with head work and some good cams Ill get over 200bhp at hoping for some good torque figgers so drifting is easyer.

Think you seen the figures before trig. You left a comment about not using the VVT. I've heard of others only getting in or around 140 150 bhp without the VVT. What are the realistic figures i should expect with standard internals. I also seen from another thread you've looked into cat cams. Will you let us know if you go this route and the outcome

That's good. I will also be running gsxr tb's with a bogg bross manifold - when I get to the stage of fitting them.
Which Omex ecu did you use and are all the conversion parts RF ones?
I have the RF water rail and motorsport sump so far.

I like your position of the catch tank, very neat. RF put their breather towards the front of the cover. Did you put yours close to the original?

    Cheers,
    John

It's an omex 600. Mounts, exhaust, water rail, alternater, sump and flywheel all from rf.
Cheers for the comments on the catch tank, took ages for me to finally decide to put it there. the folowing pictures shows where i took the breather out beside the original.Click image for larger version Name:	air breather.jpg Views:	21 Size:	2.78 MB ID:	39104

Not much progress here. I got a picture of the RR graphClick image for larger version Name:	RR graph.jpg Views:	21 Size:	2.31 MB ID:	39106

The Paint can is'nt that clear but the code is HEIUHSFI if anyone needs another code let me knowClick image for larger version Name:	Paint.jpg Views:	12 Size:	3.53 MB ID:	39107

Have the chance to buy these alloys from a mate but they're rubbing the back arch even with undersized tyres It looks like there's plenty of space in the picture but the body is jacked on the oposite side. Will have to settle for superlites which is'nt so bad cos i really like them as well. Can anyone tell me what combination of wheel/tyre will fit with a standard english axle and rolled standard arches

No didn't go with the oil cooler. I initally thought the pipes from the sandwich plate went to a seperate rad for the oil but i discovered through this forum that the water circuit is plumbed through the sandwich plate. The main reason for not using it was because i didn't want oil pipes running to the second rad. I'll probably go ahead and plumb it through water system because as stated above it will be good for heating the oil when the engine is cold.
