Ford Live 2018 Knockhill

Quite a decent day out at knockhill on Sunday for the Ford Live Show.
Took the Mk2 out for its first track session and got red flagged after 2 laps for a fuel leak, turned out i had just put too much fuel in the car before arriving at Knockhill so it was coming out the overflow pipe. Quick fix though and i was back on track for a further 4 sessions.

Took it pretty easy at first, but started growing in confidence as the day went on. Great fun and will 100% be back on track very soon. The best fun you can have with your clothes on!

Booked it in as a show car too but wont be doing that again as the organisers looked like i had just handed them a turd when i showed up and said i wasn't in the RS owners club Got me in a little cheaper though so cant complain!

Got talking to a few good lads there, a few of which are probably on here

This is the only GoPro footage i got unfortunately, my first 2 laps, then my battery ran out then i ran out of space on the SD card! doh!

Didnt see much of the show to be honest, ended up just chatting to loads of folk and stayed by the car!

I got a spare aftermarket battery but when i changed it, it recorded for 2 minutes before the card was full! Lesson learnt for next time though!

What size card do you have? Think mine is 32gb and I don’t think I’ve filled it on a trackday, my dads has a 64gb I think that’s the biggest you can use, is it a GoPro or copy?

Ive got a GoPro hero 2 so probably a bit old by todays standards, but it still works!

Ive got a 32gb card in it but i must of used up most of the memory by doing a timelapse of the journey there

Yeah I’d gess the time lapse will have used a lot of it. I have an original go pro hero that last ages on the battery, I also have a hero 4 and the goes through battery’s both have 32gb cards

I'm the only one driving it mate! Tried to get my Dad to have a shot but he didn't want to! He's pretty much the only other person I'd trust on the track with it

Croft, oulton Mostly, did a lot of evening sessions at teeside autodrome last summer, just been to teragon near aberiskwith in wales, that was 6 hours drive.

I’d like to go to a few other tracks, done other tracks in other cars just not my mk2. What tracks do you do? Could meet up

Think im gonna head back to Knockhill on the 19th August, Its a German car day but the hot hatch day is running as usual. Anyone else gonna be there?

Knockhill is 4 and half hours from me of I’m not towing the trailer, would be nice to try tho somwhere different I’ve never been, my 1st trackday in the escort was Vag tuner live a vw show at donnington Park, car got a lot of attention that day as it was way different to everything there.

If i ever get myself a trailer id definitely love to go further afield! Theres loads of tracks id love to try but i need to stay fairly local as i drive the car there and back!

Crail is just a wee bit further so might try that one day, the track that is, but i have heard the track is pretty rough on road cars

A trailer is well worth having, I’ve had a few mechanical failures and just put it on the trailer and home, it’s a lot less worry knowing you can get it home of anything happens.

When I went to wales last month there was a lot of people having to try and get recovery after totaling there cars.

That’s place was rough on the cars aswell.

I usually drive saving for trailer but good AA cover works lol , I like the idea of a group track day need to find a central track for us all be a awesome day escorts on track , I know brands dose a day for old fords with retroford mag but log way for u guys

I’ve towed with alsorts over he last few years, currently use a 66 plate transit custom 130ps it’s alright but lacking in torque, used to tow with a defender tdi, my last transit a mk7 115ps remapped to 170ish was the best of the vans, when I went to wales I used a friends 3.2 auto for ranger and that was nice with a trailer. Discovery 4 was also nice to tow with although I was pulling 3.5 tons when I was using that.

Trailer would be ideal but im currently driving around in a 1.0 focus
Weve got another baby on the way so will have a grand total of 3 kids so will be looking at the Galaxy, that might be alright for towing. Although im sure we will get something thats cheap to run etc.

A trailer is definately something for the future but right now, as were about to have 3 kids in nursery we need to save all the money we can!

Yeah my friend look at hiring a tow Vehicle and trailer, cheeper option is to hire a car transporter instead.

I really like the look of the new Ford Rangers, didn't like the old ones but the new ones look like a proper American truck! Toyota Hi-Luxs are always a safe bet though! nice trucks too!
