    Escort mk1 headlining - rods

    hi,

I am restoring a mk1 RS and would like to replace the headlining. I have a set of 4 headlining rods/bars (not from the original car) available which are approximately 110mm long (they differ a bit in length). The headlining I have purchased has 3 'straps' through which the bars fit ok in lenght. However, the last 'strap' is about 15mm longer than the other ones. Meaning one headlining rod is too short...

Does anyone know what is wrong here?
    - Do I have the wrong rods?
    - Do I have the wrong headlining?
    - .....

The first 3 pics show how the rod fits ok. The last 3 pics show how the rod is too short for the last strap.

Hope you guys can help me.

PS. I cannot test-fit the bars in the car, because it is at the painter's.

I had that problem, only to find out its not a problem.

I cut the white fabric channel to fit the rod but in doing so, the headlining at the rear does not fit tight with the curvature of the roof.

In other words, crappy quality (fitment) of the new headlining...

It looks ok, not a concourse car and only there to keep condensation away, I did however manage to fit the roll cage without any damage.

Don't go for concourse, not worth the effort.
