    Dyno tuning

Just about to stick my Escort on the dyno again after changing the exhaust manifold. Last time I just sorted the carb jetting and played with ignition timing, I’ve rejetted the carbs to give a good AFR on the road using a wideband AFR meter but what is the best procedure for dyno tuning that most use ie. ignition first then jetting then cam timing? Each has an effect on the other, last time I didn’t touch the cam timing but may try swinging a couple of degrees each way this time. What are your methods ??

as a rule, because the fueling can be done by reading afr, you put sensible ignition timing into it, sort the fueling out, swing the cam timing/ram pipes etc, at which point you might need to trim the fueling to get it back correct and then finish by finalising the ignition timing

No idea, made just over 190 when it was on an engine dyno after it was built. Not really chasing a figure to be honest just want the best from it.

It'll be nice to see an improvement with the new ex manifold, especially in the mid range. It'll be difficult to compare to power figures of the static dyno. Lets hope you have got a good Rolling Road operator that knows his or her job.

For sure, I had to richen the top end after swapping the manifold as it was a tad leaner, just went down from a 200 air corrector to a 190 to give me around 12.8 AFR

My mate at Agra in Dundee dyno’d it on their engine dyno when it was built but will be taking it to Sitech in Dunfermline rolling road.
