    Pinto 2000 head castings

I am starting to build an engine for a RS 2000 race car. I have cut a 2000 head into sections and find the casting is very thin in the inlet tract in the bowl section above the inlet valve and it has a terrible short turn Are there some castings that are thicker in these areas and how do I identify them.

the injection casting has a better short turn, other than that they are all the same

Thanks. Are there any casting numbers to look for on the injection head? What car was fitted with injection heads.

The ports are egg shaped at inlet. Google a pic.

Thanks for that it will have to be a Sierra as Granadas were not imported to New Zealand.
Can a 1600 head be used? Do they have a smaller combustion chamber? Are the valve seats lower?

    Re: Pinto 2000 head castings

have you done any research? as so far every question you have asked is common knowledge in the books and on all the internet threads?

yes you can use a 1600 head, it used to be a common mod. 1600 head does have a smaller combustion chamber, and more material in the short turn.
the 1600 valves are longer though to compensate in valve seat height

Thanks for this, Sorry to seem so dumb. This is my research and my first time on a blog. Have been building successful race engines for 40 years But never seen the inside of a pinto engine so what you call common knowledge is useful. Thanks again.
