    Group 4 shell

Can anyone tell me exactly what's on/in an escort mk1/2 shell to make it a full group 4 spec?
I've googled it but can't find a definitive answer.
    Thanks Dave

It's all in the Ford Rallyesport prep book. It's a very old manual written in the late 70's by an ex Borham employee, it could be Charles Reynolds but no too sure.

    Group 4 shell

Gp4 was a set of regs.
It says what you could have and what you couldn't have but a car complying to go4 didn't have to have all the mods ?
So perhaps your question is really
What mods did an ultimate / competitive gp4 escort have. ?

GP 4 mods in the prep book are for period only, things have been superseded in the modern era because there's no such thing as GP4 homologation anymore unless you are building to Historic Regs.

We now have weld in cages, big tunnels and tubs to name a few. Shell preparation with the works cars was n't to the high standard that it is today because their theory was that the car could possibly be wrecked in two or three events time so there was no point in going into such fine detail.

    all correct but
gp4 doesnt refer to a modern heavily modded show car, it still refers to a set of historic regs.
