If it's a std RS2 clock then there is no easy instructions how to get inside.
Even then getting a broken clock fixed is no easy task.
But most "broken" clocks I have seen don't work because the plastic see-through front bit is pressing the needles so hard they can not move.
Relieve pressure or lube the needles from the centre and try again.

I have it apart now. It was a case of gently running a screwdriver or similar round the bezel to lift the "flange" up. After about 10 mins careful prising I managed to get the bezel off and the clock mechanism out. The clock comprises an electromagnet which, when activated moves a ratchet which acts on a toothed wheel. This extends a spring which is the motive power to drive the clock through a series of normal clock gears and escapement. I checked the coil and that is fine. When I reset the ratchet, the electromagnet will move the ratchet until switched off by a contact on the end of the solenoid. At that point the spring should have sufficient energy to drive the clock. This isn't happening, I am hoping that it is dirty bearings, so I will clean all the axle bearings with petrol and lubricate with a spot of clock oil and see if that works.

Tried to upload a couple of pictures but this board wanted me to resize pictures, and I really don't have time to sort out the board's shortcomings

When you pay for the site hosting fees - then you can criticise its 'shortcomings'!

that may or may not be the case, i dont know about such things, but many on here have posted an contributed to the site for a lot of years,

the reaction you got from katana was hardly surprising given you as someone new, with not even a handful of posts comes along, don't contribute anything of interest but , simply asks for info then moans about the site

    Can you re-use the bezel? I couldn't.

Yes, I'm sorry, I was actually trying to put information on the site, telling people how I had fixed it..which I thought might be useful. I'm nervous about putting anything else on now..So sorry
