Ford Focus Water temp sender unit

Hi,

Anyone help, fitted a Ford Focus water temp sender unit into an elbow on my 2.0 pinto and it has 2 conectors comming of it can anyone help on the wiring for it.
Is one a live and a negitive a picture or diagram would help.

i'm sure it works like a variable resistor, and is run in-line

the +ve and -ve sides should be at the gauge end i would have thought
