    Mk2 escort, rear coilover options?

Had a quick look around and I知 going to replace the front and rear suspention dampers and print springs. Rears are only 12 months old. There 146lb decambered leafs,

my main aim question is, can I run rear coil overs with my tramp kit or do I have to change to 4 link setup? I get that the 4 link is better but with looking for a house I could do with not blowing a lot on the car, if not then I値l just stay with the turreted rear,

    any recomendations on dampers?

it has bilstines on now, long type but my car is low and the long legs don稚 give much travel so need to change to short type.

the car is used for track days and drifting and the odd autotest.

It has a 2.0 pinto and 225lb springs, I feel that this is abit soft maybe somthing like 275lb?

you will have to keep the leaf spring unless you also 4 link.

on the front you wont notice a big difference between 225 and 275, i would be looking more like 300-350

TBH i if you have 145lb rears i wouldnt expect you to need much if anything by way of a rear coilover spring perhaps 50lb, if it was a full of slick shod race car with 600 lb front springs then you would definitely want rear coilovers

I run between 260-350lb front springs and 146 leafs on the back with shorter Gaz shocks , Panhard, anti tramps etc, with the damping adjusted about mid way it’s perfect on track and for sprints, I run soft compound tyres and still don’t find the rear too soft. I wind off the damping when wet and it’s great, prob have more than enough grip for the power mine has.

My 1987 Road Rally winning Escort had exactly the same suspension set up as yours Warrior, the rear shockers were GP1 Race Bilsteins non turreted 220/110. with the shocker mounts slightly re positioned. The car handled beautifully on tight, twisty and bumpy roads as well as the fast flowing ones.

I appreciate time may have moved on but a MK2 Escort will always be that unless you want to spend 10 Grand + fitting Reiger or Proflex to make things handle better. Save your Brass for the House.
