Zetec and Type 9 into Sierra - Propshaft woes
So we’ve fitted a zetec with a 5spd type 9 into our Sierra using CVH engine mounts and a custom gearbox bearer. (Originally a 1.6 pinto and 4 spd)
we had a single piece prop made to irradicate the rubber in the original 2-piece
that vibrated
i then bought a 2wd cossie 2-piece prop being told that was the one to go for, swapped over ends to the type 9, only to find out the prop is about 50mm too short, but
i then out in the “original” prop that cam with the 4 spd, (I appear to have swapped to a type9 end at some point), this fits better, but still looks like it’s too short
where am I going wrong? I thought all props were pretty much the same? Even the back ends seem different... the 2wd cossie back half is 10-15mm shorter than the ‘standard’ one I have
is it my car? I.e. are the 3dr mk1 sierras different to every other Sierra out there?
am I doing something wrong?

Re: Zetec and Type 9 into Sierra - Propshaft woes
I’ve had it suggested that a 7.5” diff is longer than a 7”, is this correct?
Does anyone know how much shorter a type 9 gearbox is than a T5?

Re: Zetec and Type 9 into Sierra - Propshaft woes
I have also fitted a 5speed type9 with 2300 dohc into 3dr mk1 sierra.
That was original a 4speed small prop.
Just used the original 2 piece 5 speed prop, fitted with a new rubber piece that you slide in the end of the box.
As far as I know the diffs are only wider 7''/7,5''
Do you have the gearbox sitting in the same position, not a lot more forward in the sliders for the gearbox mount?
