X-flow Flywheel removal. What socket size?

Im trying to remove the flywheel off of my 2737E engine.

I have star bolts which i thought where 5/8af. I dont have the luxury of many imperial tools and in Germany they are hard to get. Its not 15mm or 16mm either. Im stumped.

Took me also some time to find out, a 6 side 9/16 doesn't work, you need the 12 side 9/16 socket ...

Always used a 12 point 9/16 socket. Also use an old valve (from an old cylinder head) bent at 90° place the valve stem in 1 of the bell housing bolt holes & swing the head of the valve into the ring gear ( locking up the flywheel)
    Simples.

Disappointed, thought Ford people took pride in working on their cars, if you start cutting corners with wrong sockets how accurate will the torque settings be on the wrench ?

Re: X-flow Flywheel removal. What socket size?

Well. I am trying to source the proper 12 pointed 9/16 (i only have well looked after 14mm 6 point ). Local tool suppliers show me their sparkly metric sockets then look at me as they would a particularly prickly bowel movement when i politely explain that imperial means inches and their fractions not the nearest metric size... Amazon didnt help. I ordered one from them and the w**kers sent 9/16 whitworth which is 5/8...

It does amaze me. I live in a rural area and there are a lot of John Deere equipment around, Harleys and American cars too. Someone somewhere must supply garages and workshops around here... I have one on order again.
