    Exhaust tunnel - mk1 escort

Currently in the planning stages of a new exhaust for the escort - pinto turbo. Exhaust will be 3" mandrel. Already have the bends.

I would like the exhaust up as high as possible (not lower than rails).

What is the best method for constructing an exhaust tunnel?
Are the tunnel sections generally purchased prefab or do people roll/make their own?
    Info/pics/links much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Shaun

Most people roll their own in straight sections, then join them together when they're being welded into the car.

Have a look at some of Gary's (retromotorsport) threads, he's done quite a few now.

ive seen a set on ebay, ready rolled and cut, always going to need trimming to suit, exhausts are very rarely in the same place from car to car, good place to start tho. i did the front section on my car up to the back seat. but im a cheapskate and i made the parts myself, but should have just payed the money!!

I have been advised to use a 1meter section of 4" exhaust cut down the middle... Sounds pretty simple really...

Will see how I get on.

    Thanks, Shaun

Unfortunately, I think the postage to Oz would make it non ecconomical, and even then, they would likely arrive in a different shape to how they were sent.....
