    Help Please

    Hi there
my son and I have a mk2 Escort RS 2000 with a Cosworth YB 2wd standard spec engine.
It has been laid up about 4 years and several months ago we made a start on resurrecting it.
We have fitted a new roof to replace the old sunroof one which someone tried to weld and fill.
However, apart from this ,we have had nothing but zero results in getting it to run right,as it once did.
IT starts, but really badly over fuels and takes absolutely ages to get to run on 4 cylinders cleanly, the plugs are black sooted as you would expect.Plus it won't tick over at all,it just cuts out.😁😖😡
    We have replaced;
    Plugs
    Distibutor Cap
    Rotor arm.
    Crankshaft sensor
    Phase sensor
    Water coolant temp sensor
    Air charge sensor
    MAP sensor
We are currently debating changing the Idle Speed Control Valve which we have cleaned adjusted and think it should be OK.
Does anyone have any ideas ???
    Thanking you in anticipation.

Take it to Mikeanics in Congleton, they 'll be able to sort it out for you.

We wanted to find a REAL mechanic not a technician, the ECU and everything on this engine is 'hands on'.

If I were you I would be checking your fuel pressure and flow as one of the first priorities, blindly throwing new expensive parts at it on the off chance of solving a problem is the last thing you want to be doing.

Mikeanics Motorsport in Congleton would have the parts and experience so solve your problem unless you know otherwise. The proprietor has over 20yrs Rallying under his belt running both GPA and WRC Escorts.

If you play your cards right he might even give it a power check on the rollers.

This did seem a little harsh if i read it right. Never dealt with Mikeanics but have heard of them for many years and they are still in business. I looked at their webpage and certainly seem clued up. Along with NMS and motorsport developments who also have very good reputations. MSD owner runs passionford forum i think. Not sure what "hands on means" but it could be down to bad wiring that has degraded, green joints or anything sometimes you need expert advice to pinpoint the issue.
