    Simple Princess 4 pot fittment

I looked through 4 years of Classic ford to find a 'how to' article on fitting princess 4 pots to my 1300GT Mk1. No luck!
I'm looking for the simplest basic install for a road car. Don't mind buying an off the shelf a I don't have good access to European ford parts in US.

I have the calipers, but nothing else.
    any suggestions, Instructions, advice ???

    Thanks

    James

I may be wrong as its many years since i attempted to fit princess calipers to my escort (all long gone now) but i think you will need RS type struts.

As far as i'm aware straight fit (all disc struts same)-link the two halves of caliper together with a small pipe-and preferably use 257mm discs as standard escort ones are slightly too small (247mm?).

certainly they will bolt straight onto rs struts, and we used to make a pipe that took fluid from one of the upper bleed nipples and feed it into the second inlet port, so you could feed them using only one fluid supply pipe. you will need a spacer kit if you want to run vented discs though. back in teh 80's it was popular mod, although i don't recall anyone actually saying it make the brakes better and these days most have tried them say they are no improvement, and are bloody heavy!

    As above
First question is Do they bolt straight on to your struts ? If not then I would get rs / Capri struts as first move.

Surely any disc struts could be used-if M16's fit Princess 4 pots will?

If your from the USA ditch the princess calipers and get some nice alloy 4 pots. Willwood springs to mind but there are many other great brands in the states. From the US programs i see you shouldn't be stuck for choice.

Don't know just saying if M16's fit so will 4 pots-I knew some early cars used imperial P16's (not sure on bolt spacings tho or whether they were fitted to escorts)

I do agree with some previous comments, in the land of alloy after market calipers why bother with the heavy cast iron ones, i bought a pair years ago, quickly sold them on when i felt the weight of them, unsprung weight is your enemy...

Agreed they do weigh a ton-and reading some posts on here aren't actually much better than standard. New 4 pots would be better.

i also remember that very early disc cars had smaller calipers - yes possibly the p16 or whatever but i dont think they mix / match hence my question - first step - do they fit lugs / spacing , otherwise get different struts

There’s a 10mm pad overlap if you use m16 discs with princess callipers
