    Alloy Fuel tank, Fia homologation?

Hello, I'm Enea from Italy, first time I write, but i'v been reading a lot in the last couple years.

I (well my father actually) own a Ford escort mk2, with 2ltr pinto engine, the car is being rebuilt to suit FIA historic rally.

I need a fuel tank with foam inside, is there anybody who know if the grp4 fabrications alloy tank has any kind of certification? I need something like USA military "MIL-B-83054" or anti explosion "DSTOP”. I tried to ask Burton but they didn't answered yet.

I found that someone already asked, but it was 7 years ago, so I hope something changed.

    Thanks, Enea.

Most companies that make alloy fuel tanks will supply either, baffled or foam filled fuel tanks. I would be very surprised if grp4 fabrications didn't make a foam filled tank.

Thanks for replying, I don't need ft3, ft5 or similar FIA standard, is enough to have USA military homologation or Dstop anti explosive, I was wondering if someone that have the foam filled alloy tank from gr4 fab can confirm if the foam is homologated.

Re: Alloy Fuel tank, Fia homologation?

that's what FIA ask for historic car

4.5.2 For all cars from Period F to I the tank is free but must be filled with safety foam conforming to MIL-MIL-B-83054 Military Specification (shielding material) or “DSTOP” anti-explosion systems.

I'm no expert about fuel tank foam, but to me it seem no-sense to sell a tank whitout the right type of foam (I mean, for FIA racing use is compulsory, and that tank is basically for racing).

Thank you all for the replies, I also sent a message to grp4 just to be sure, but it look right what Graham says.

    Thanks again.

uk national event dont run to fia regs on a lot of items, so most tanks for sale over here will not be fia compliant

Re: Alloy Fuel tank, Fia homologation?

just ordered, when it will arrive I'll see if it has any kind of FIA standard, but I highly doubt, also because it's way too cheap, luckily I've got a plan B.

Burton answered me, and no, it's not Fia homologated.
