Mk2 dash swap tacho wiring please

Hello all I have searched threads before posting some great info and piccys credit to
Anyway I'm.swapping my dash to tacho ghia sport one
Previous saw photos on swapping 2 wires from plugs that go into clocks my plug wiring different colours (import)? The wires as far as headlight and indicators same positions but where one is swapped from centre of 5 pin plug there are already 2 going in and when I did swap it all and connect coil neg points side it stalled engine ie short
