Mk2 escort wiper motor wiring advice please

Can anyone advise me on wether a standard Mk2 escort wiper motor will work on a single on/off switch in a loom built from scratch?

The motor has 2 speeds, but I wanted one, the wiper has always blown the fuse in the past.

    Thanks

earth the body, power one wire for one speed and power the other wire instead to get the second, oh and there should be another wire which has a perm live to park the wiper.

to get two speeds isnt that difficult i have two on my race car,

the live feed from the on/off switch goes through a second on/off/on switch which directs it to the appropriate wires on the motor, for an extra meter of wire and one more switch having fast/slow is pretty handy

Thanks Graham, I am still trying to work out how the original switch (85) and Wiper motor (80) worked!

There is a power supply plug, which I assume is the red & green (see diagram).

    And a 3 pin plug, Black/Violet, Brown/White (earth) & Brown/Blue.

Doe's this mean that the motor is earth switched for the 2 speeds ? and if so, how would the motor connect to the on/off/on switch?

no it doesnt switch the earth, i think i have it as to how it works but the diagram doesnt show me enough and isnt big enough for mr to read it properly and give you a 100% answer,

unfortunatly the same goes for the diagram in the haynes manual in front of me, i even cleaned my glasses and still cant read the diagram properly, looks like i need a big magnifying glass or some younger eyes!

Look at diagram, wiper motor (no 80).
Right most wire (br/ws) us the earth for the motor.
2nd wire from right is connected to the low-speed terminal of the motor via the wiperswitch (when in zero position).
This "switch" inside the motor keeps the low-speed-terminal also at earth when the wiper are in park (motor short circuited so it doesn't move).
When wipers are not in park and switch is off the switch puts 12volts (middle wire in diagram) onto the low-speed-terminal which keeps the motor turning until the switch moves over and earths the motor again.
Left most wire of motor is the high-speed-terminal; 2nd from left is the low-speed-terminal.
When you put +12volts onto both these wire the motor goes into high speed.
    Are you with me???

    Now to switch (85).
If you want a single switch to operate the wipers (but still want that they to go "park" automatically) get a single-pole switchover switch.
Put wire "gn" (from terminal 53) onto the middle terminal of the new switch; put wire "bl/br" (from terminal 31b) onto the bottom terminal of new switch; and put wire "sw/vi" (from terminal 54) onto the bottom connection of new switch.
If you now operate the new switch the wipers will move in slow speed; switch them off and wipers will go into park-position.
    Easy peasy.

Hi, sorry I had to start a new thread in 'Other Stuff' on this due to having trouble uploading photos!

The 2 wires onto the bottom connection confused me, as I am using a on/off/on switch.

    Any help appreciated.

The two bottom wires where? And BTW, if referring to loom extract above - that isn't an intermittent switch! You maybe looking at the washer motor push contacts?
