    Re: Microsquirt no spark

Ok sorry for confusion, its a standard blacktop zetec, i.e not carbed or throttle bodied, using microsquirt to control fuel and spark, have rpm's and gauges registering, pretty sure its wired up correctly, i just dont understand the way in which codes or maps are loaded, outputs 1 and 2 are connected to coilpack with a switched live in the centre terminal, there is nothing registering on wires 1 and 2 when engine is cranked, fuel pump comes on and fuel is present.
    thanks.

ok, now you say using edis but not module ? if your using edis then its the edis that conects to the coilpack.
tbh i dont have much knowledge of microsquirt, do you know if its wired exactly as megasquirt ?

    Re: Microsquirt no spark

ok with my v. little knowledge ! ( can you not change firmware ? ie to msns extra ?) firstly if its running edis and is supposed to do so then make sure its all wired as its supposed to be, ie edis to coilpack and micro to edis.
read the thread by majichat asking for assistance with the mejajolt
read my thread (old ) megasquirt experiment , might be of some use.
post a link to the wiring diagrams your using / following.
    thats a start.

    Re: Microsquirt no spark

not using edis module as engine was from a 2000 (w) reg mondeo and i believe that the edis module is built into the original ecu, on the microsquirt it has 2 outputs no.1 and no.2, according to the wiring diagram and manual these go directly to the coil pack 3 way connector with a switched live in the middle pin. i think the problems are to do with the engine constants, seems i have to enter it all manually, then save it as an msq(?) and load it into the microsquirt, confused? i am ! i might have a bloke coming round this weekend that supposedly knows the system so i'll keep you posted, in the meantime i'll check out the threads you mentioned, cheers.

    Re: Microsquirt no spark

as you say, it may well be a software configuration setting thats wrong. these are found under the drop down bars along the top of the ms screen when connected. uploading is easy enough and with mega sq you can do it live (the msq file is the file name of the map ie 109emap1.msq) so yes, open the software on laptop, tinker with config then save the config to my docs called 109emap1.msq then when you plug laptop into ms on car just upload the new map. the problem you have is knowing which settings are wrong. lets hope he is used to the system. keep us informed

    Re: Microsquirt no spark

    Hi there

I have been reading your threads on the microsquirt forum, and have replied to the one in the ignition section. Could you confirm which pins you have wired the VR senser to. I "think" the sheilded white wire is an output for the ignition, not the input for the VR sensor, which i think should be pins 32 and 33. Have a look at the wiring tab on this pagehttp://www.microsquirt.info/ to see the pinouts for the connector.
