1700 XFlow gearbox and differential selection

Hi you all. I have a 1700 XFlow (Specialized Engines) with a modified Weber 32/36 to 34/34 chokes and simultaneous opening throttles

I am planning to install a T9 5 speed gearbox (Sierra) and a 4:44 LSD. I wonder if this selection is correct. I will us it only in Track Day races.

Please let me have your kind advices.

    Thanks and regards

    Eduardo

what diameter are your tyres, if box has std ratios and you are using something like a 185/60 tyre your 1st gear will be about 25mph @ 7k and your theoretical top end about 120mph @ 7k if your motor will pull the gearing {which i would doubt}. only by trial and error do you gain personal experience

Re: 1700 XFlow gearbox and differential selection

Thank you fatboy slim for your reply. My tyres are 175/70/13. I will use 1st gear just to move the car, then 2nd and so on. I am planning not to go more than 6K or so. My dizzy cut is at 6.5K. So, once I started the race, I will have a 3 gear MK2. Yes, on slow turns I will use 3rd. on faster 4th, and my top gear will 5th. I love the way my car pull with a 4:44 diff !!

What do you think about ??

    Cheers

Start saving for a straight cut kit and put a 5.1 or 5.3 in it and you'll love it even more, although you'll be considerably poorer

Thanks again fatboy slim. Why I am going to be poorer ? Anyway, the track I normally have Track Days, even I have never tried 5.1 or 5.3, its fine with a 4:44, cause i reach my braking point in the straight at about 6K, and that's pretty fast !!

Oh well, also I want to keep my XFlow on the safe side LOL

Thanks for your kind help mate

    Cheers.
