1700 XFlow gearbox and differential selection

Hi everybody. I have a MK2 1700 (Specialized Engines) with a weber 32/36 carb. modified to 34/34 chokes and simultaneous throttle opening.

I am planning to install a T9 5 speed gearbox (Sierra) and a 4:44 LSD. I wonder if this is a good choice. I am using my car only in Track Day races, and not in street use.

I will like to recieve your advices if this choice is a good one.

Please let me have your kind opinions.

    Thanks and regards

Hi, if a genuine T9 ratio, with 4.4 axle, 1st gear will be very short
you'd beter go to a close ratio gearbox, with long first.
    I had a xflow, 2.54 first, with 4.4 and 4.9. Works better with 4.9

Thank you Mkdu for your kind reply. I have no options cause here in my country it's hard to find - almost impossible - spares for either T9 gearbox or diff aswell. But I will do what I used to do years ago when I was gravel Rallying in my country. And that is: in 1st I will just move the car and then 2nd and so on. Once running I have a great 3 speeds MK2. I'll use 3rd in slow turns and in fast turns 4th. And 5th will be my final gear. What do you think about ????

    Cheers and wait your comments

Thanks for replying wildo 105 e. The problem is that without a 5th speed, in 4th - 1 to 1 - my car will reach dizzy cut very early, about 300 to 400 mts before I reach the braking point. And I want a 4:44 diff cause my car accelerates beautifuly !!

    Cheers
