Pretty sure that is one of those S.African AX blocks. Supposed to be a bit thicker walled than the old x flow 711m blocks.
Look like the numbers on my AX block, worth good money if not overbored or sleeved, mines 85mm ,83.5 is well safe .
Never heard of "801c".
Normally the heavy duty South African "AX" blocks are numbered "831c".
i have also checked all ford crossflows IDs and i do no see this anyway.
But is it worth keeping, or must i make a coffee table with the block.

If it's complete, check what is inside. measure bore and stroke.
I have said this before (albeit quite a while ago); the AX block DOES NOT have thicker bore walls than a 711M. It's a myth. Dave Brooks (Engines) measured the bore wall thickness of several AX and 711m blocks. There was no difference. It is slightly stronger because of better metallurgy, and improved webbing.
Agreed. Of the AX blocks I have owned I have found that the blocks weigh approx 4-5kg more than a similarly sized bore 711m block, and the bores are no thicker.
The extra weight seems to come from denser material, and the material definitely looks different in appearance in the AX block to the 711m etc.
My first Hillclimb/Sprint car used a 1760cc XFlow with 711M block at 85mm. No problems whatsovever and only changed because of the introduction of a 1700cc capacity limit in that particular class.
I have heard of (reliably) lots of AX blocks breaking through way before 86mm, some even at 83.5mm. It's not the general bore walls by the waterjacket that are the problem, it's the oilway between cylinders 1 and 2 where they break through. Last year I was helping a guy from Ireland build a screamer xflow rally engine using an AX block. He wanted to bore it out to 85mm (he was using a shorter stroke Lotus crank). I advised him not to do it. Guess what? It broke through into the oilway....
Apparently (although it's only what was planned - don't know if it actually transpired) the new Ford Motorsport XFlow block has a re-routed oilway and has the potential to go to a larger bore. I don't know if this is true or not, and they are expensive at £1400 so it would be a costly experiment.
i gues you could plug the oil way either side of the breakthrough and run an external one?
Years ago I had a holbay screamer on a 701L block at 86.5mm and it was a old engine and had seen plenty of action. Luck of the draw maybe
