    1970's 2 strokes.

I quite fancy a bike from the days of my mispent youth but they seem to be making serious money these days, anyone know the whereabouts of any of the following air cooled strokers, RD 350/400 or Kawasaki 350/400/500, really looking for a runner rather than an incomplete restoration project. Cheers.

    Paul.

Do you mean an H2 750 ?, tbh I only want one of the bikes in my original post as that's the kind of thing I had when I was 18.

Just to add I,ve got a GSXR 1000 K6 for fun these days, I'd just like the stroker for the noise and smell

He's confusing it with the (much lardier and slower) Suzuki GT750 "Kettle"

There was a Rd silver / black in our local car sales £500 number is 01235 816627

Looks tidy for its age not sure on engine size, they also are Royal Enfield dealers and get a lot of the older bikes in.

This is their website for the bikes http://www.oxfordshireroyalenfield.co.uk/index.htm

Thanks, gave them a ring and it's a 250 which isn't quite what I'm looking for.

Was looking at these the other day
Have you seen the prices of those bikes now, esp the H2 750 triple
Even a clean X7 makes good money now

    Re: 1970's 2 strokes.

Grew up with 2 strokes, they sounded great on expansion chambers. Only ever managed a Suzuki GT125 as never passed my bike test. An old mate of mine has an RG250 painted in the light blue and orange Gulf colours. I vaguely remember the GT75O being notorious for seizing the middle cylinder and the KH's being a bit of a handful, ah the memories and the smell of burning Castrol R.

The GT750 was water cooled and I don't remember stories of it seizing as it was in a low state of tune. Someone challenged me to a race on one, big mistake, I had a Z1 900 Kwack .

The up side of doing a mk2 escort for the last few months is its stopped me acquiring any more bikes...

Marcm yes you do have a problem and I wish I had your problem. Nice collection there, just love the scramblers. Keep up the good work.

Just remember if the women start moaning about anyone having 2 or 3 bikes, just remind them its not considered an illness until more its more than ten....and I'm not buying anymore bikes...unless its an xt 500 or a blue 600 tenere...or a tz250..

I'm sure that I had a magazine from the 80's that featured an RD with two 250 engines bolted together to create a 500.

You should be on that Hoarders TV programme . When I turned 17 I wanted to buy a DT175 from Bryants in Biggleswade but my old man said it was too big for a first bike and wouldn't sign the HP .
