2.3 duratec /mps
Hi all
ok i need some advice, i have a 2.3 MPS engine which is a Mazda 2.3 turbo engine,
steel crank and rods as standard, thicker block which are also cross drilled for better cooling, the head is also cross drilled but VVT,
I want to make it N/A but have been told nobody in the UK has done much with them,
i know they are strong enough as they are taking them upto 500 bhp on standard internals.
Tried cosworth no cams to turn them to N/A or pistons as they are diffrent rods,
Cosworth said the crank would be too heavy, but how much is too heavy?
but the block is best you can get,
Now Ford has just bought out the 2.0 Ecoboost engine which is a destroked MPS engine has anybody got any ideas or do i sell it and start again?
Thanks in advance
Andy

Re: 2.3 duratec /mps
I strongly suggest you sell the engine(to me!) and start again

Re: 2.3 duratec /mps
There is absolutely no advantage to use this as a na engine in fact in would probably be inferior to the duratec. You'd be better to sell it because it's worth a good buck then reinvest the money in a regular duratec engine.
In fact in North America, in built turbo form the duratec has outperformed the Mazda 2.3 mps.
