    Primer

Hi all i need to get some primer on my car to stop it from rusting (surface rust). Now then do I put etch on it or normal primer.
Also i will eventualy paint the car ermine so is there a special colour primer to get?
What about the type or is etch etch? do you have to get a different type for water or 2k paint.

    Re: Primer

I would use etch to protect it, but if it is to be stored for a long time it might need doing again.
Etch is pretty much of a muchness really. Go for a well known brand if you prefer.

    Re: Primer

All primer is porous, so if you store anything in primer it will rust.

    Re: Primer

Hi mate, as said above any primer if left is porous, easiest thing to do is get a big old tin of red lead primer from your local auto factors/paint suppliers and either roll it or brush it on, this will last the longest and is easy to sand back down again at a later date, cheers
