Re: Yb engine
Second hand engines are going for £4K upwards depending on spec', T5's are £1k plus.
If I was you the first thing I'd do with it after purchasing it is to take it to a trusted engine builder who knows these engines to strip it down for a 'refresh' & to make sure there are no issues with it. Money spent on this is good insurance for the future. Not sure how much this would cost you as would depend on what the engine required, if it was just new bearings seals, gaskets etc your prob looking around £3k - £4k.
The guy I use isnt that far from you either, Grace Engines. He built my previous Cossie (as well as at least 3 others that belong to friends) and he is a superb engine builder.
Let me know if you want his contact details.
Regards the gearbox, I'd personally just fit it & see how it was. There normally very good but 99.9% of them have been hammered, even on low mileage cars. I dont have any personal experience with these (I run a T56 in mine) but a mate had his T5 box re-done by Bara & he raved about it after, not sure on costs tho.

Re: Yb engine
I’ve got a YB that will be up for sale shortly
Only bits missing are turbo and a sump
205 block from a car that was stored for a number of years
Inlet has been removed and inlets are extremely clean
