    1s7g (low port) head flow?

Has anyone tested low port head intake channel flow? I mean stock head, not ported. There are many flow figures from high port head but I haven't seen any low port.

They're crap compared to the VVT heads. Calling it low or high port is a bit confusing really as it doesn't make sense, but we'll stick with it. The port shape is all wrong and the high port much better in every way hence it flowing so much more. Low port figures:

Re: 1s7g (low port) head flow?

i have both a 2.0 1S7G head and a 2.3 RF3L8G heads sat in front of me, neither were VVT.
From what i had read online both heads were near on identical but the difference in the inlet ports is significant, the 2.3 short turn just beyond the valve has more material and is much smoother whereas the 2.0 has a sharper turn (and a sharp lip about 10mm from the valve).
The 2.3 has material around the valve guide, like a shroud to angle the air around the valve guide.
The 2.3 also has a strange bump in the port just behind each valve.

I have a 2.3 mazda sport in the garden to be stripped soon, will be interested to see how the mazda head differs from the dura.

I have been scratching my head for a while now about trying to get hold of a later fiesta ST (high port) head, i had read that it may free up an extra 15bhp on a modded engine over the standard head

The later mondeo's all have the higher flow cylinder head, might be easier to find one
