1600 crossflow for sale

I've got a 1600 crossflow just taken out of my kit car.

It's a 1600 crossflow bored out +40 thou, new rings around a year ago and 1,000 miles.


I believe it has oversized valves, but for the life of me I can't remember what size. Not standard, but not the biggest either. GT spec I believe.


Shortened sump with original oil capacity.


Piper cam XF391, really comes alive at 3k rpm upwards.

Their website says upto 7k but I've avoided revving above 6k. It's loud enough as is...

It was dynoed before I bought it in December 2012 at 110bhp. Not sure when that was done though!



Other than this, it's a pretty standard crossflow.

I dismantled the head a few years back before it was on the road and replaced the valve stem oil seals and de coked the valves. It was also sent to the machine shop to have unleaded valve seat inserts put in.

Since then I've done around 1,000 miles and had no issues. It pulls very well and sounds great but I'm wanting more power and something a bit better suited to longer distance touring, so i'm replacing it with a 2.0l duratec. I have done a couple of 300 mile + jaunts with the crossflow and its run very well, though.


I'm after £500 for it.

Possibly, but I know that a lot of couriers won’t let you send an engine on a pallet. But if you can sort it out, I will pallet it.
