Best Escort Kit?

Im looking to get a self assembly escort mk2 model from somewhere, can anyone advise me on the better ones as i'm struggling to find any. cheers Dan

When i make models i use the tamiya kits as i find them full of detail and value for money but i have been searching for years for a mk1 escort kit made by them in 1/24th scale but can't find them. Might be worth seeing if they do a mk2 escort though. Let me know if you find anything.

Revell and Esci both did MK2 Escort kits, not seen a Mk1 Escort in kit form but do know of a resin body to convert and Esci Mk2 Kit

There is no Escort Mk1 or Mk2 made by Tamiya - if there was then I'd think all my Christmas' had come at once

There is really only one option for Mk2's in 1/24 scale and that's the one made by ESCI. This was recently sold again under the Revell name - but they are the same kit. Unfortunately, the ESCI/Revell kit has many errors that would really only be noticed by serious Escort fans (like us I supose). They can be corrected but will take hours of work.

I have been working on this Mk2 for a while now and you can see that the bottom edge and sills needed modifying because the body as supplied in the kit is far too flat at the sides. several other mods are needed to make it 100%. The narrow body conversion is another story...

There is a Mk1 in 1/24 scale made in resin, but the one I same was really poo!. In fact it was one of the worst 1/24 resin kits I have ever seen.

Take a close look - it looks like its made from chocolate - and then melted a bit!

Airfix make a decent Mk1 in 1/32 scale. This has been re-released many times over the years and I think it is currently available boxed under the 'Haynes' name. has good engine and suspension detail.

Finally, you could opt for the many 1/18 scale die casts - they're rather nice and can be pulled apart for a bit of 'personalisation'.

i got an airfix one.

the picture on the box is horrific and looks northing really like a mk1 escort, the bloke that drew it wants shooting

but infact the model is really good.
