Mk1 6 clock dash dials don't work etc

    HI all,

Thought i would pick you brains as i am getting stumped. Finally refitted my 6 clock dash was a 2 clock but converted years ago and worked. When i turn on the ignition i get no red light and the ancillary gauges don't work i.e. voltage temp fuel (oil is mechanical). I have had a good look and did get it working when i put all new fuses in the fuse box then it stopped again . Does it require a 12v+ feed and if so where from i assume ignition a few pointers would be great as i am sort of searching in the dark at the mo for loose wires etc.

The car will turn over on the key etc. Not started it as it is on standalone EFI so i can start it as the car will turn over etc it's just the ancillary gauges.

    Thanks

standard twin pointed fuses can be a git, they need cleaning and the brass tabs they fit in cleaning (potch) - a bit of vasseline helps keep them clean

Also whilst checking the fuses check the connections on the clocks themselves. In connectors and the dials. The copper often gets an oxide on it (not always enough to show green) that prevents a good connections. Rub them scotchbrite or similar to clean them off.

Thanks, it was strange that the dials wouldn't work and also the windscreen wipers ? I removed the fuse box and gave a very good clean with scotchbrite and all good now.

I still don't know what powers the side dials ??

On a side note my fuse box had a broken fixing tab so fixed this with Gorilla super glue and now it is like rock, well recommended saved me buying a new one at great expense.
