    Pinto head design (picture heavy)

    Hello all,

need your opinion in this matter. A friend of mine bought a used pinto head in the UK. It was declaimed a overhauled, freshly skimmed, in perfect condition (haha) ... dynoed at appr. 190 HP (which I can't beleive on a standard bottom). It was paid for and delivered as follows:

    Valve seat corroded:

    Condition of the valves:

    Valve with broken sealing face:

My friend cleaned it up and ordered a new valve and discoverd this:

Top of valves had been cut to make them adjustable because valve seats had been cut too deep and therefore the stem had been too long:

Rocker arm has nearly contact with the spring:

Ultra low locking nut (compared with a standard nut):

    Replaced valve with new tip:

Does this look like a well engineered head from a experienced engine builder that does this work for over 20 years? Or is it common practise to cut the tip of the valves to make them adjustable?

Nevermind, Paypal was contacted, buyers protection worked out because the seller did not response to emails by PayPal etc. Head was send back to the seller and now he complaints that the received head was not the one he did send to by friend. Of course it is not in the same bad shape as he has send it out. Now, what to do?

I assume the seller is well known in the scene since he owns a couple of really nice Fords (MK1 RS2k, RS500, Focus RS etc).

    CheeRS

Looks like the exhaust valve seat in the photo is cracked too.

I would think that the valve seats are cut way too deep and that causes the tip of the valve beeing too high (or stem too long). So the tips had been cut to give clearance to the follower ...

But hey, thats 20 years experience in engineering and grinding ...

Even if the seller knows at least now about the condition of the head, there no word about it. No closeup of the valve tips, nothing.
