    V5 Sales

Can I just remind people that V5 sales are not allowed on this site under any circumstances.
Simple as that, don't do it or face a ban.If anybody sees one please don't hesitate to report the post or pm me so i can deal with it.

ps. Clicking the "Report Post" button sends an email to all of the staff. I don't know about the others, but I don't check my mail all that regularly.
If you want to get hold of me quicker then send me a pm, I will see that much sooner.

    Re: V5 Sales

interesting topic of conversation this, there was a v5 for a mk1 escort for sale last week on this very website and there was a good few members off here very interested in it,what they were going to do with it is another matter though.
Maybe they wanted to ring a car ?? who knows.

basically its down to your own scruples regards blatantly selling vehicle id's but i would be hopping mad if someone used the id to ring a robbed car.

    Re: V5 Sales

Dont think it's a topic of converstion, the ad the other week is why this has been posted as the sites policy is No V5's for sale ads.

This was posted to remind people of that.

OK so with the huge influx of shells turning up from all corners of the globe, migrating to the UK , How does one register these unknown origin shells ?

    Thoughts please.

Legually ..................... the car brought in should have it's own log book which once MOT'D you take to Dvla and they give you a Uk reg number and a V5 and relieve you of about £50 !!!!

Anything else and any of way is technically illegal and "ringing"

most shells are brought in as parts and so a lot cheaper than logbooked cars.

?? thought the topic was about shells, mostly being mk1/2 escorts.
well most escort shells from oz are as parts and so no logbooks.maybe they have the logbooks applied for over here before being sold by their importers ? i have never bought one so don't know.

I know of 3 imports from Aus, all have been used as replacement shells for knackered UK cars.

There is no reason for sales of V5's other than ringing a car which is illegal.

    Re: V5 Sales

Right, I am getting fed up reporting V5 sales of Escorts on eBay with VIN tags, its encouraging theft, does anyone know if there is another way to report it?

There is an RS2000 Mk2 one on there at the minute, just the V5 and chassis tags, 36 unscrupulous buyers and one dodgy seller.

    Anything we can do??

Reporting it on eBay means it only pops up somewhere else, or on eBay again later

Haha, knowing my luck eBay would enforce the sale!!!

Is there any way of reporting the V5/Listing to DVLA for example? ie meaning that the buyer gets a nice very expensive piece of paper and metal ice scraper tag

you never know with ebay, i bought an item which didnt show up, went through all the procedures, they argeed i could have my money back if it didnt arrive by a certain date, which passed, then refused to give me my money, because i had allegedly had an email from them about it!

after kicking up a fuss and demanding to know where they had sent this email i never received and that they should resend it they gave in and i got my money back

    Re: V5 Sales

I really do think E Bay dont care so long as they get the fees ,,,I know of a lot of people who report these sales but they still keep comming up

I note a few are apearing on face book as well to which myself and others have recieve a number of abusive replys via the PM system regarding comments made

Problem is there a a lot of people who have the old documents still are jumping on the band wagon hopeing for a nice payday

Regarding the DVLA it is difficult to find who to contact but I did manage to get a responce to one letter I sent to them

Bones of the reply was to confirm the sale of these document is illegal and any one found to be selling them will be prosicuted along with any buyer that trys to use the document to give a car a new ID

There is a system in place of mointoring any old V5s that seem to show up after many years of being un taxed or un insured and the DVLA will investigate and if they find a car with an identity that it was not originally provided with it will be siezed and destroyed be it an 1100 pop or a concourse RS model

These are facts confirmed by the DVLA so people need to be awear of what they buy

The old excuse of it keeps old escorts on the road is bollox, If you reshell a rotten car you use the ID of the shell you use and inform the DVLA you have scrapped the original car. If you inport a car the the DVLA will give it a date related plate

There is absolutly no reason the use an E Bay document or other sourced document other than to make a car look to be a model it is not or to give a stolen car a new ID

100000% Correct, which is why it really annoys me. If there were no "spare" V5's floating about, then it would reduce old Fords (and others) being ringed

The DVLA can still investigate and ask to see the car the document relates to,,,,,,, no good if all you have is a box of rusty tin..... Sellers are just out to make a few quid and dont care what any potential buyer will use it for And as for buyers then you can form your own judgement on there morals

I do know of one car that had been stolen and rebranded with a E Bay special, worse part was the thief got community service as punishment

It's funny really, you slip a wanted ad for parts in the for sale and within an hour your ad has been removed. But then again EBay won't be making any money off a wanted add will they. As long as they're getting some revenue off your advertising and sale they could give a flying f---k what it is or the consequent results of that sale. Greed greed greed.

i guess part of the issue is the volume of adds being uploaded, with ebay being world wide it must be millions daily, you cant expect them to read every add just incase its a v5 for sale

    V5 Sales

    Makes me laugh really
No one gives a dam about v5 sales unless there's an rs / mex etc involved.
As for the rules on here - are links now allowed ? ( in the no v5 sales thread no less !)

    Re: V5 Sales

Surely with modern technology things like this could be flagged up for a bit more investigation

about the model of car it seems your not wrong there mike, but a ringer is still a ringer, and a stolen motor is still stolen whatever the ID

ive deleted the post with the link, although anyone looking for a v5 ebay add will soon find one without a link on here, but it does bug me a bit that people keep posting links to dodgy adds, that hardly helps the situation
