    Pinto 94mm bore

    Hi All
I am new to this forum.
I have read through past posts and still haven’t come to the conclusion if it’s safe to go to 94mm .
I have read some people have had no problem and others have .
Have anyone put liners inside the pinto block before. Maybe if we go this route then a bigger piston would be better?

its not safe, some block will, most wont, we once even had a block at 93mm fail, it didnt break as such, but shortly after running in a bore went oval and it got a horrible piston slap

yes you can put liners in it, but in doing so you are taking away a lot of strength from the block.

i cant see any point in trying for 94

I’ve already got a set of 94 mm pistons. That’s why I was hoping to use them.

arrh i see, bore a block and see what happens when you use it, if it does you will have to try another block or use liners

Query - is offset boring an option - along the crank axis of course..............although staggered and perpendicular could work if the revs were held low?

when going big bore on an a series thats what you do, move one and four down the block 2 and 3 sideways, but that is to leave the head gasket something to seal on.

on a pinto the problem is more about cylinder walls getting too thin

Yeah I was aware of the A series way - I had a 1400 Cooper S..... didn't realise Pintos were that deficient between the bores!
