    Axel information req

    Hi I have a mk2 Escort with a 2.0L EFI PINTO engine type 9 5 speed gearbox it has a 1.6 sports rear axle not sure of its a KOLN on it can anyone tell me if this is a suitable axel or can anyone recommend what would be the best to fit Capri Ect

    post up a pick and we will be able to help with what axle it it . a English axle will be more than up to the job on that and a lot cheaper than fitting a atlas

    Easiest way to tell is look closely at the bolt pattern on the back of the housing, if two of the bolts top and bottom are closer to each other making the bolt pattern asymmetrical then you have a Koln axle. If they are completely symmetrical you have an Atlas axle. If there is no bolts on the back you have an English axle.

    If the car is from South Africa, it will be most likely Koln unless someone has changed it. The Koln Diffs are generally considered weaker. It looks more like an atlas than an english and overall material thickness is smaller.
