I run my 2.2 with a kent RL 31 and am very pleased with it as it produces good power low down and doesn't need huge revs to get the best out of it. With the work you're doing, I would use forged over cast pistons though

RL31 would seem a good choice, but limit compression down to about 10.5:1 if you had forged pistons then i'd use a bit more compression

    Thanks all

comp sounds spot on was wot i was aiming for.
Forged would be good but its cost factor as all this machning adds up and its a budget build.
Have seen a kent KCRL1 cam any one know this one as its not listed any more.
Want a cam that is street usable as it will only be a road car.
any ball park power figures a nice strong pull through the revs is what im looking for
    rather than all out bhp.
im also running a 5 speed box in the mk1 capri with a 1600 back axle dont want
to have to scream it in forth down the motorway just to have some power to overtake.

    regards paul

RL 1 specs are listed on Kents website, search by part no RL1 and it'll bring it up

    Hi,
if you have a roadcar "err on the small side" as David Vizard used to call it.
RL31 is an excellent cam but for road use and 45's on 2.2 try a GTS1 cam from Kent.
Same lift but less duration, should be ideal for your needs.
Tractable with a 10.5:1 CR as Graham suggest but with good power until 7000 rpm.

    Re: pinto cam choice

Hi thanks for advice checked on kents web again as the Rl1 was not on the print out i did.
Done a search and i found it far to aggresive listed as rally.
Like the look of the RL31
currently have a FR32 in my 2.0l standard injection head and twin 45`s with raised comp
