Is there any way possible that I can find out the reg number of my car from it's VIN number? Whilst moving I have lost the V5 and the plates where thrown ages ago?

you could try a HPI check
Do you know any friendly policemen ? Or the abandoned Vechicle Officer at the local council.
They have to be mates as I think it is very frowned up to do these kind of searches on a whim.
I believe they are the only people who can search on Chassis Number Only.
hi here is the best way to find the vin number,if got the registerion number there are letters at the start which are the area code were it was first registered there are a few websites with information .then the easy part, if know area were it was registered you will have to contact the council local records office and ask for a copy of first registerion which they may charge for?you will get a half A4 paper with make, model, reg number, date of reg, chassis number and final engine number.hope this helps
there a other way contact ford,i give you the address later ask for help they may know which dealship it was sent to,and dealship may still have records of the vehicle tell you what number was put on you car
I did this, got a mate in the motor trade to do a HPI on the chassis number and it brings up the reg
Real men do it Sideways
I did it the other way round, only had the number plates on the car,the tags and log book where lost years ago,got a mate to hpi it and then sent off for a new log book, job done!
Get a proper HPI check and it will give you all the details including vin number/engine number. dont use the ones advertised on telly that you can text because they dont give you all the details. PLUS THEY DONT CHECK FOR OUTSTANDING FINANCE. I can get a proper `HPI check done for £10 if that helps. i have HPId cars from just the vin number before and it gave me the reg number and any other numbers its been registered under. Private plates etc.
i have a hillman imp which i need to get the reg for how would i go about this?i have looked on the HPI site but they don't give you an opition for just VIN number which is all i have can anyone help
Contact the DVLA.

1968 MK1 Escort 1300GT
1969 'Big Wing' MK1 Escort
1972 MK3 Cortina 1600XL
1984 Sierra XR4i
And other junk I don't like to talk about!
I have tried DVLA they just sent back a load of stuff about clubs etc I should contact to if ever registered there!?! They said they canniot get the details for a car this age from just the VIN number alone. The HPI site does not offer to put just the VIN number in, it is asking for the REG no.. http://www.hpicheck.com/
pm yodi off here as he does hpi checks and will let you know if the details will show up.
OK cheers, will give it a go.
if you dont get it sorted i can do HPI checks for £10.
