Cool pinto motor with box type2, possible?

Hello to all, I wanted to know if there is any possibility of being able to keep my original "type2" box and put the pinto 2.0 engine.
Actually I have a 1.6 xflow motor with this box and at the moment I did not want to replace it unless there is no other solution.

A greeting and thanks in advance

Not sure if Type 2 with a pinto flywheel will give you starter motor engagement problems.
But besides this the Type 2 gearbox wasn't very strong with a crossflow behind it never mind a pinto!

I had Standard 1,6 Ltr gearbox in my rallycross Escort and Pinto 1600cc. So I guess with 1600 cc clutch it would a least be possible.

BTW, I don't remember how many milliseconds it took before it was broken but I do know it was broken on the first practice of my car on my house driveway. Maybe if you don't make burn outs it can survive longer. Technical it can be done.

Just a guess, possibly the Pinto 1.6 flywheel with 1.6 clutch cover and a crossflow 1.6 clutch plate.
The 1.6 Pinto used a 7” clutch cover.
The Type 2 gearbox has a 7/8” 20 spline input shaft
    The Type E & 9 use a 1” 23 spline

Tge Type E (4 speed version of Type 9) would be a similar size to the type 2 box and a much more simple install.

1600 cc L engine had approx the same box fitted as standard and clutch splines where the same. Even the early Sierra 1600 cc 4 speed box had the same thin gearbox and clutch. Possible Escort disc will also fit.

1600 cc S engines (90 BHP) as far as I can remember had the same 4 speed box as the 2000cc but most with one piece Bellhousing. Not like RS2000. At least here in Belgium.

If you are gentle in the start and spare first gear it can work, one burn out or donut can kill it !

what is the reason that the type2 box can not hold a pinto and if a xflow 1.6 of up to 150bhp? my intention is to mount a pinto but not full race, the idea is to put block series and stock stage 2 or 3 (Burton), with tree and carburetion weber 45.
It would be for street use.

torque my friend, a 150bhp x/flow wil/ eat them if its used hard and an x/f has no torque compared to a pinto

ok, something like that was supposed to me, but the mistake was mine because I did not tell you the engine preparation that would be installed.
