BMW rear suspension and diff ratio's
I've got the plan to use a complete BMW rear subframe / suspension setup for a kit car. The complete frame as it is. BMW got alloy subframes with a lot of alloy parts about everywhere on some cars (5 series??). Being BMW it should be strong, being alloy I do believe it is light weight compared to other subframes and looking modern and complex, it should have good road holding.
Only drawback, all diff's seems to have very long ratio's. Some early BMW types have much shorter rato's. Can I swap complete diff's, do they fit the later subframes or can I swap the crown and pinion from one diff housing to the other?
The only other option is using an expensive gearbox with drop gears.
Any OEM BMW LSD I can use?

Re: BMW rear suspension and diff ratio's
there is some interchangeability of ratios between diffs, for instance the internals from a 188 medium case diff from a E34 and E30 or E36 will interchange, but the diffs themselves wont, 2002 and e21 diffs can swap cwp, or the whole housing. but if your talking alloy subrframes from a 5 series then your talking E39 onwards and earlier diffs are not going to fit
