i wouldnt buy either! the first set are likely to need a ton of work to get them good again (if even possible)

and as for chinese webers, well lets not forget Spanish made ones are not as good as genuine Italian ones, so i would hold out a lot of hope for Chinese ones, they wil probably work but how well who knows!

Save up for a decent set of throttle bodies and ECU and leave that ebay crap where it is would be my advice.

Nope as long as they are in good shape. Like anything buyer beware.

    Re: Is this worth it?

I just made a deal pair of DHLA 45`s. Just serviced by seller that I can trust.
They have 38mm chokes, maybe too big for my engine but I will try how it works. Maybe 36mm could be better.

    -BP285 cam
    -std valves
    -10.5:1 compression
-mildly ported head (did it myself)
    -Ashley 4-2-1 2" exhaust manifold
    -92mm pistons

Guy where I bought my Dellorto`s (he work with carburetors) said that chinese aren`t so crap anymore. You just have to rebuild them, change gaskets & jets and make good cleaning.

i would say its pretty crap to have to rebuild and clean brand new carbs, surely if you gotta pay someone to do that you might as well buy the real thing

When he says change jets does he mean size or brand ? An obvious concern is the accuracy of the Chinese jets

It's the quality. Accuracy isn't so good in those chinese jets.
And he said the new spanish Webers need to clean also, not just chinese.

    Re: Is this worth it?

I would Hazard a guess that most Rolling Road operators would fit Chinese jets on a Tune up unless they are authorised Weber agents.

Second hand carbs are a minefield, I bought a reasonable looking set of 45's off a kit car that they could n't get running right. I later found out that some heavy handed Bafoon has over tightened the idle screws and split the seats under them. I have n't yet got round to getting the engine running to see how they perform. Luckily if all fails I have a set of Spanish ones to try.

I can appreciate someone wanting the authentic carb look which is what I wanted to do, however I might regret not going down the inection route, at least I would have been starting with all new.

Back in the day we always used 48 Dellortos with good results both on Pinto's and NA Cosworth engines, the only problem was Rolling roads kept very few jets in for that type of carb as they were different to Weber ones.
