Mk1 escort door handles

Thought it would be better to put this on it's own thread.
Due to the problems in sourcing and rechroming existing door handles, I'm looking at the possibility of remanufacturing them in pairs.
If I could produce them for under £100 per pair, what would be the level of interest?
Obviously I need to look at the tooling & manufacturing cost to see if it's viable.
Suggestions welcome.

Are you talking about the early or late handles?

If you manage to reproduce them for £100 a pair and be in pocket I would be seriously impressed.

I'm currently talking of the handles with the plain push button (no lock).
Is the difference you refer to in the thickness where the body of the handle meets the door skin? I seem to remember that some are quite slim there. Mine are about 8mm thick in that area.
Any more info you can supply would be helpful at this point.

I just got a quote of £55+vat each to have my handles rechromed if you could remanufacture them for £100 i think you would sell quite a few sets.

Well that seems to be the sort of problems we all face. Pay the money and then get back a piece of swiss cheese! As with anything, this will be a numbers game. the more sets manufactured, the cheaper they become. But then I have to be realistic. I don't see the demand running in to 1000's.
Keep the comments coming so I can get a 'real feel' for the demand.
I'm already working on the project so I'll have a better feeling for the viability of things soon.

The early handles differ in that they have the lock in the push button, and the handles themselves are symetrical-ie they look the same upside down-they are not handed.
