Hi all. I'm DESPERATELY after a bit of help. I've just rebuilt the engine of my 1964 Mk1 Cortina 1200 pre xflow. I've fitted a new clutch too.......and here's the problem! Not having a dummy shaft I "eyed" the splines in. Mating the engine to the bell housing was a struggle but I used the bell housing bolts to draw it on. They've butted up lovely now but, prior to butting I depressed the clutch pedal (to check it's opperating okay) and popped the seals in the slave cylinder. Not a big issue really and easily sorted. However, now all the bolts are in I stuck it into gear to see if the gears are engaging, rocked the car, and it rolled freely!!! The engine turns freely when I turn the crank but the box isn't engaging???? Could the popped slave make that happen or have I misaligned the clutch so much the shaft hasn,t seated???? I find the latter really hard to believe. Can any of you experienced in these matters help/advise me before I rip the engine BACK out please?????
Many thanks in anticipation..........Dave
