Fibreglass mexico arches, fibreglass mex wings or sell a kidney for steels?

Right. My newly acquired 2 door has stock steel wings (not in bad shape apart from the annoying habit of popping in and out on the top surface). I want Mexico arches and have three options. Replace the arches with fibreglass replacements. Replace the wings with fibrglass items or new steel wings.

I would love to say "sod it" and just buy the steels ones but im on a tight budget (Christ knows what we do with my earnings! ) Although if this is the best option it will be done.

Im not great at welding, but ok with bog/filler. But how do the GRP arches get fitted?

GRP wings are my least favoured option. They appear to be easiest and cheapest but i suspect a real PITA to fit right.

    Opinions please fellas.

I would say something like sika flex to bond arches on either inside or maybe outside if the wing. You would need to trim back the standard ones.

I have a pair of smith and deakin fibre glass wings in the garage which i took off my car and TBH they weren't a great fit but with work if you are good with fibreglass and filler etc they could have worked, I couldn't be bothered. If you look at my escort project in the first pictures they were fitted then. It would give you an idea.

    Hello

If you are looking for Mk1 Mexico wings in either steel or fibreglass I can supply both. The fibreglass ones I supply to order are Old Ford Autos and they are very good quality at £270 a pair. I also have Magnum Mexico steel wings in stock at £740.00 a pair. Both are plus shipping.

You couldn't get new mex wings when I started my resto so I sourced some steel mex wing lips to weld onto my good standard wings.
However half way through the build, Magnum started doing new ones. So I bit the bullet and got a pair....£300 each!!.
Not sure how much they are now but that's the way to go if budget allows... although they were still a pig to fit!!
