RED race engine developments have just made a bell housing to suit.

Spoke to them 4 days ago and they mentioned they had just finished it.

I wouldn't want to be using a type 9 at those sort of revs

I think the benefit of the belhousing adaptor is you need one to use most of the proper gearboxes as they mostly come in type 9 fitment.

    Re: S2000 To T9 Ford box ??

Quaife 60G and things like that.

The issue with the Honda lump is the revs it pulls, I wouldn't trust any of your normal gearboxes at those revs and you will find the manufacturers won't guarantee them at that rpm either.

I looked into for mine then just decided to stick with the stock box as its going to have to be a 60G or stock for me as thats the cheapest available, that " should " take those sort of revs without any dramas but you are still talking the best part of 6k for a box, plus then you will want some extras !

Don't get me wrong, there are cheaper boxes but from a reasonable about of looking into it I couldn't find anyone who would be willing to confirm if their boxes would hold together

    Hi DJ
having done the convertion into MK1 Escort with hindsite I would stick with s2k box (and save a bucketfull of brass), superb strong box, designed for 240 bhp!!!

What is wrong with the S2000 box anyway?

    Are they difficult to find?

    Hi M11rf
plenty of std. boxes about, designed for 240bhp and very high revs. as said above some boxes don't like high revs. I used a Trax-X SL 72 5 speed dog box and was mint (after using Quaife QBE 15G dog box which didn't like high revs.) Most certainly I would recommend std. box. Yuk.

I don't understand why anyone is considering fitting a type 9 then... Is it for the Ratios?

    The stock ratios aren't great.

You can work it all out here :

    http://www.turnzero.com/technical_re...ear_calculator

Just select s2000 00-03 and add your cwp and your tyre size.

A type 9 isn't going to last 5 mins ! I'd much rather have the stock box over one.

    Re: S2000 To T9 Ford box ??

The issue that has failed to be mentioned here is that to use the Honda box with the floating axle you have to have a 2 piece prop.
This is because the Honda S2000 Box has a weak tail shaft housing.

Not a problem for me as I use a cossy diff :-)
I am using the standard S2000 box with a 4.4 CWP.
