    Grp 4 wheel stud thread

Does anyone happen to know what the thread at the back of a Grp4 front wheel stud is please?
Where it goes through the alloy hub and you put the nut on the back of it.
Ive tried and tried tried to identify it but failed miserable at every point. The only thing I
am pretty sure about is that it's Imperial but thats about it...

I thought it was 5/8 UNF but a 5/8 UNF nut is no good...

    Cheers
    Rob...

    Thanks, Mick

the funny thing is I'm pretty sure that was actually the 1st one I tried.

I'll double check when I'm around the garage again.
Pretty sure I tried 1/2 unf 1st then 5/8 unf, neither fit. The 1/2 being too small and the 5/8 is too big.

    M14 fine ?
Think that if you call RACE or WWRS or Gartrac they will be able to tell you what it is exactly.

Nope sorry mick not that either.

So, today I ended up in my local nut an bolt suppliers. Turns out it's 9/16 unf, if only I'd tried that one. I tried the sizes either side of that, being 1/2 and 5/8 unf plus a good few others too.

    Thanks for everyone's input though..

I would doublecheck that with the suppliers I mentioned.
9/16 UNF will go on a M14-fine thread but it won't be as strong as it probably should.

I do understand where you're coming from as the tolerance of the 9/16 unf nut seems rather alot, but I've just tried M14 x 1.5 and M14 x 1.25 taps in the new 9/16 unf nut and neither fit, neither of those dies fit the stud either.
