    Compressor advice required

I'm looking to buy a compressor - 50-100 litre tank, 3hp motor but whats the difference between a direct drive and belt drive with regards to performance/operation/noise. Is one better than the other?

Belt drive are much quieter and more efficient. Check Axminster.co.uk 50l compressor model no. AWBDC30

ii'll second that, i have both types, the direct drive one is at least twice the noise of the belt drive

    Hmmm. My dilemma.
I only want a compressor to use an impact wrench to remove wheels and to pump up tyres. I have a nice brick built semi-soundproof cubby hole to house it in too.
I either spend £500 ish on a belt driven compressor, or I can get THIS compressor, brand new, for 'free' with a bit of creative paperwork.
    What would you do?

Right, the free one it is then. I can always sell it on later if I have to.

Got it. Lovely little compressor. Not too noisey but then again, a bit of noise from the compressor is nothing when you're using an impact wrench to remove wheels.

Also came with an air hose, impact wrench, impact socket set and a tyre inflator.
