Fuel pump for single Weber 40 dcoe???

Having fitted a single Weber 40 dcoe to my mk2 cortina and finally got the the throttle set up properly. the car seams to be running fine but my question is will the standard mechanical fuel pump keep up with the new carb set up or do I need to fit a electric fuel pump?

A standard pump in good condition will cope with 130bhp so it will depend on condition of pump and spec of your engine but you will probably be ok

Cheers for the reply. It’s only a 1300cc pre xflow with a mild cam fitted. The fuel pump isn’t that old and the car seams to drive ok with no flat spots etc. Is there a upgraded mechanical fuel pump I could fit?cheers paul.

doesnt sound like you need to upgrade the pump.

easiest way to check if its man enough is to accelerate full throttle to the red line up through the gears, if the pump cant keep up you will reach a point where the power dies away, but will come back if you lift off for a couple of seconds
