Race X-Flow 48 DCO jetting
I run an all-steel 1700+ X-flow with the following carb set up:
2x Weber 48DCO 2SP
Chokes: 42mm
Emulsion: F7
Main jet: 185
Air corrector: 160
Idle jet: 65 F8
Pump:45
Engine starts instantly, idles smoothly, pulls well from 2-8K and is very tractable. I'm very happy with it other than a slight misfire at part throttle on long, fast right-hand turns (not tried it on long, fast left handers). The plugs are a bit dark after a race so it's running a little rich - question is should I mess with it and try changing the jetting or just leave it alone? Or could the misfiring be be due to incorrect float levels?

missfire sounds like fuel surge to me, whats sort of fuel tank have you got?

What cam are you using?
You really need to know if the mixture is (slightly) rich or poor when the missfire takes place.
Checking / setting the float levels can do no harm.

I'm using a foam-filled ATL fuel cell - I never had surge problems with the Pinto engine.
I am going to replace the nylex plates and old o rings with proper misab plates and new mounting rubbers - doubt it will make much difference but you never know. I'll set the floats too.
I wish I knew what cam is fitted - it was in the engine when I got it. The were pretty spendy when the motor was built - everything in it is pretty nice.
Plugs are quite dark after a 15min race, but the exhaust is clean. I can't tell if it's lean or rich when it misfires - I hope to get it on a dyno one day once my Pinto is finished.
