My machine is sitting in the garage ready to go
Fresh gearbox, fresh axle took her for a hooligan spin today, love it

Love to mate but I have the small annoyance of a house move to deal with!! I will make an exception if yours is finished and going to be there though
I'll co-drive
£400 for a day of big skids with the big man
I wonder how hard it will be to sort a new license out from here in India.....
...and how much grief I'd get from Lee for spending Escort upgrade funds on a jolly
Jokes aside, my main issue is that my car is on the SBD stand at the Autosport show, so if anything happens to it, I'm in deep s**t, not a lot of time to put it right!!!
Would absolutely love to do that though, Paul would get cheesed off with me asking for driving tips instead of listening I expect
Ahh b*gger - I'd forgotten about that
Time to order a new rack then instead then I guess....
(Shout if you have a change of heart mate )
Paul.
I feel like I've been dumped!
Don't worry mate, it would have only been a one night stand
Well if nobody is competing shall we just take a road trip to watch anyway?
I bet by the time he gets back he'll be able to say no to a curry!!!!
Kebab Paul ??? Lol
Don't get me wrong, the food out here is fantastic, but I'd pay silly money for a decent greasy breakfast or a kebab right now
Well, I'm back home now and some things never change - slow, slow progress, and more expense
Matt has very kindly finished off part of the new radiator plumbing layout for me this week (adding knurled ends to an ally pipe, and giving it a bufty polish), and I'm on the final stages of fitting the Laminova oil/water cooler.
All being well, that will be complete this weekend (or sooner), and then its just a case of re-fitting the exhaust, the prop-shaft and the new steering rack. At that point, it'll just need a weekend or two to tidy the wiring back up and she'll be ready for firing up again
And before anyone asks, the camera is now fully charged and will be put to good use soon
Cheers,
Paul.
Make that ONE step forward and TWO backwards - I reckon the new steering rack isnt going to fit without lowering the crossmember...........
........where's Gary-the-magic-welder-man?
Need me to pop down with a big hammer to relieve the sump mate ?
Dont worry Dave, I have a solution
I'm gonna ditch the engine mounts and suspend the lump from the strut brace instead. Then the JCB steering rack will slide in with plenty of room to spare
Fully floating engine - nice
What's hitting where mate? The pinion housing looks well chunky.
Not sure yet mate - just had a little nose around with the torch the other night and think that the chunky ally brackets might be too big to fit under the sump on the O/S. Will find out for certain on Sunday hopefully....
Will call after your "quiet" weekend to see how it all went
I hope it fits mate, let me know if we need to modify it at all, looks like there is a bit of meat there if we need to give you more clearance.
Cheers mate, it should be pretty simple, it's half done already
Sorry about next may mate
No worries Smiffy - we'll go to Manx or Donegal instead, and save Killarney for December or 2013
It looks like your eyeing up the National Tarmac Championship next year Paul?
I want to say the car is looking amazing - but still no photos.... so i can't
Hi Paul,
No championship for me next year - although I will probably do some of the Epynt and Otterburn rounds as I've never been over either venue and have to start learning sometime I guess.
So, three or four REIS rounds, plus perhaps perm two from Manx, Donegal, Mull and Kenmare Historics (Killarney) - that would be a great season I think
Work still progressing on the Escort - this little beauty WILL fit the car soon somehow!
Cheers,
Paul.
How about Jersey Paul?
Not sure mate - never really fancied it that much, perhaps because of the short stages?
Having said that, I had a good look at all the reports back from this years, and it seems popular with everyone else.
Biggest downside is probably the timing with Mull though.....
Cheers,
Paul
Meant to be pretty awesome though mate. Short stages, but plenty of them? Better chance of half decent weather too!
Paul, I used to think the same about Jersey until i went there last year! Proper tight nadgery lanes, seems to suit a neatly driven mk2 Great event for the craic as well! Have a look at some of Mauger's in-car from 2010 on youtube...
Come on alex you slacker, get some pics up
Any updates mate? I know the weather was crappy yesterday so I didn't think you'd be out in the rain?
