Quaife semi floating axle question
I’ve a atlas axle in my mk2 fitted with a quaife semi floating kit it’s only done 700 miles from new but has slight play in one of the wheel bearing!
Spoke to guy that built it and says that’s quite normal to have a small amount as it’s a single bearing (double row)
Thing is it’s only one side with play other has non ??? It is only slight I’m a Mot tester and it wouldn’t fail a test ,it’s more the fact only one side has play !!!
Am I worrying about nowt cheers paul

Re: Quaife semi floating axle question
Well admittedly it is a bit strange that only one side has play in it but if you say it would pass an Mot then don't worry about it. Or alternatively can you just replace that one bearing?

The best advice is to keep your eye on it and monitor the situatation and if you are n't happy replace the bearing with one of decent quality. A good local bearing stockist should be able to supply you with one if you give them the number or show them the bearing so they can Id it. It could just be that Quaife are using bearings of pants quality.
